Airbus Rework Operation Center Building in Saint-Nazaire (44)

Production hall for 8 aircraft fuselage sections.
Located within the Airbus plant in Montoir-de-Bretagne, the ROC building represents a new approach to the site’s aircraft fuselage assembly activity. A true industrial tool, it embodies a fundamental principle: form follows function. A compact building organized between the production system and office space, it articulates differentiated volumes.

A vast hangar

Oriented north, stretching along its 90 meters, it accommodates up to 8 fuselage sections. Along its southern length on the first level, offices for administrative staff are arranged. The post-and-beam structural principle makes it highly adaptable and expandable.

Thus, on the north side, a solid metal cladding facade punctuated by 8 portals allows maneuvering of trailers. On the south side, a continuous glazing on the first level brings in natural light and an exterior view. A perforated metal cladding diffuses its kinetic effects on this side of the facade. The lowering of the height from south to north respects the constraints of the takeoff cone.

In addition to heightened ecological requirements, the project also faces challenges of pollution control, the use of bio-based materials, and energy consumption management. A clean construction site, timber structure, and photovoltaic panels place the project within a high environmental quality approach.
